General Creative Process:

Link out to read this PDF by Dorothy Sayers on her ‘Philosophy of Work.’   The essay is entitled “Why Work.”  Dorothy’s thoughts on this subject, as well as Madeline L’Engle’s book, ‘Walking on Water’ have been incredibly helpful in the development of my personal philosophy of work.   Nothing stands in our way of enjoying acting as a hobby or as a fun, fulfilling, extracurricular craft, but Before you can begin to successfully pursue acting as a professional career, it is important that you understand the WHY of what you do.  If you don’t, your EGO may get the better of you and you might do more damage than good.   In order to truly achieve your purpose on earth… even if it’s Acting — you MUST get a handle on this part of yourself.  It’s a great place to start, too, because in knowing your ‘why,’  you become more adept at playing yourself and in turn become the shape-shifter required to play those significantly different from you.

“On Writing” – by Stephen King

“Walking on Water” – by Madeline L’Engle

“The Artist’s Way” – by Julia Cameron

“The Elements of Style” – by William Strunk, Jr. & E.B. White

Health & Wellness

“An Apple a Day” – by Dr. M. T. Morter Jr.
